Week 2 at Tamera: Horse Course

Me & Shalima my horse!

It’s Beltane!!! & the last full day at Tamera. I (rach) finished the 4 day “horse course” yesterday.
And Brian has spent the week volunteering in the kitchen team.

He’s a little sick 🙁

But we’ve both learned a lot & loved a lot of our experience. The horse course was truly amazing. I couldn’t have imagined I’d learn so much from them how to get “in contact” (which Tamera is all about), not only with them, but of course myself, as they are a mirror for me.

As you can see above I got partnered with Shalima, an amazing, beautiful, strong, at ease “Arab” horse. She was so centred & always simply “there” in our connection.  We learned to lead & be in contact with our horses without force & rode bare back blindfolded in a meditation & then without blindfold on a lovely trek. We had brilliant sharing circles & even more brilliant facilitators.

There’s just so much to say, but for me, opening to trust, especially of myself was a big part of this work. This loss of trust can be traced to a symptom of our capitalist culture, whose inescapable impact is “divide & rule”. But of course capitalism is a result of previous forces at work in the human evolution right from the emergence of agrarian farming. So, generally when people asked us about the horse course we always said “the horses are fine! It’s us that need work”! 🙂

So today has been about integrating the last week & probably the last 2 weeks. So I immersed myself in nature & visited one of Tamera’s “power points”, the stone circle.

A very grounding yet elevating experience. I really started to understand today what it means to follow my energy & can feel that my natural rhythm is much slower than the hectic pace of conventional modern life & is much better directed by something closer to intuition, supported by mind & rationality, rather than the other way around.

The emphasis on truth & getting in contact is really becoming more & more integrated on a deeper level. The rational  sense of it is immediately obvious to me (that it is the foundation of a peaceful loving world) but it is the living it & the healing & support for that, through an intentional community, that I am beginning to get into resonance with and understand on a visceral & dare I say it, subtle & spiritual level!

Brian will hopefully write more about his kitchen experience soon…!

It would also be great also to hear any comments so keep “in contact”! 🙂
