Our first Friday night (2 days in) saw the leaving party for a guy called Eric with the first ‘sunseed awards’ night.
It was themed French, surfer, Hawaiian. All things Eric. So we decided to play it down…
Evidently Eric was instrumental in saving sunseed last year, as they were financially on the brink. There were just over 20 different awards ranging from ‘most sustainable’ and ‘the sunseed award’ to ‘best hair’ and ‘best naked body’.
Brian’s experience with event management came in handy as he volunteered to coordinate the evening.
Every couple of awards there was an act, musical or otherwise, and of course we both got up a couple of times.
The crowd adored Rachael’s voice and her song ‘Fool’, and Brian’s juggling also.
…and Rachael’s dropping also. She had never passed clubs with someone in the middle & lots of people at the sides… She did ask them to protect themselves!
There was no shortage of talent either from pretty men to hang drum & cahon drumming & a song & interpretive dance created for Eric about his passion for hydroponics!
This is George & Evie. George was running the permaculture course that was happening the whole time we were there & Evie was a long term volunteer with a voice to die for. We vocal jammed that night with some guitarists & drummers & again at the weekly jam at the agave woods man’s house. Evie was so awesome 🙂 George also had me & Brian come stay at his amazing apartment in Denia for a couple of nights before moving onto Italy. What a legend!
Wally on hang drum taught on the permaculture course too & was a generally super sweet guy. Didn’t get to know the cahon guy but he taught us all some sweet Spanish clapping rhythms.
Hydroponics songdancing by the inspiring Piotr who ran “appropriate technologies” at sunseed & was super encouraging & inspired by my community connection processes work. Beautiful guitar by Vincent, with some amazing chicken dancingamazing by the hilarious dark horse Cat.
All this & more was hosted by a crazy fabulous German compere…no not whipcatch this timecause, Â but Jan, a guy that built a cool solar box that Brian’s posting about.
Oh yeah & a lap dance for Eric by 2 very eager participants! I don’t know what happened to this photo but it represents the moment perfectly!
Great fun and expression of human creativity and joy. Essential living! So let’s all hug it out!
The final Saturday was the end of the PDC that was being held here over two weeks. At the end they had the ‘No Talent Show’. This was really funny, with lots of crazy inventiveness. We of course performed again! Rachael showed her 4 hoops on arms trick as well as a few others.
This led to a mini workshop the next day which was really fun! Sunseed is just such an open creative space that really appreciates & values anything ppl have to offer! I just loved Evie’s face after I showed this trick. She couldn’t believe it! 🙂
I was so happy to be part of celebration as creative expression & sharing is such an important aspect of community & “if it’s not fun it’s not sustainable”!!!
Looks like a real FUN time was had by all and of course you two fitted right into that; I’m sure they were delighted with Brian co-ordinating the evening – I guess it was a breeze compared to EJC! Love to you both xx
Haha! Yeah. It was really nice. Such a creative accepting space!
